Haruka (May) is a ten year old pokemon coordinator who adores shopping and eating treats. She has a rather particular fondness for food; especially noodles. Humorously enough, she is usually angered from head to toe when someone dares to steal her food. Haruka, generally is very sweet and optimistic but can show a tougher side of herself when it's called for.

She loves cute pokemon, flashy techniques and has a tendency to rely on luck, among other things. Haruka has also displayed the interest in attempting to help other people out with their romantic problems. She also loves making her own pokeblocks- known as "Haruka's Delicious/May's Pink Surprise" and "Haruka's Delicious 2/May's Purple Surprise"- respectively. The only ones who liked her purple surprise was her munchlax and Jessie.

When Haruka first showed up in the anime, she was not interested in pokemon and had only been interested in becoming a trainer so she could travel. Needless to say, everyone expected her to become a trainer and follow in her gym leader father's footsteps. However, after seeing a contest, that was when she decided to become a pokemon coordinator.
